FUERTEVENTURA ISLAND ATTRACTIONS

FUERTEVENTURA, the second largest Canary Island, closest to the African coast is regarded as the oldest of the islands, with over 150 beaches - some with pure white soft sand, and others with black sand or pebbles. Fuerteventura has the highest number of sand dunes and longest sandy beaches of all the Canary Islands, offering the space and freedom to walk alone on deserted beaches where naturism is accepted and celebrated. The seas surrounding the island are crystal clear with many turquoise-blue lagoons, perfect for safe family bathing. Surfers also have the benefit of rolling waves and frothy seas on the west side of the island to test their abilities.

There are many activities to keep you busy and interesting places to see. For an active holiday, enjoy surfing, diving, kite and wind surfing. The world windsurfing slalom event takes place every year in July/August at Sotavento along its wide sandy beaches and is a great for fans of all ages.

For a more relaxed holiday, wander through the vast white sand dunes of the Parque Nacional near Corralejo and see goats, camels, ospreys and the endangered Houbara Bustard which makes this region their home.
