Fuerteventura - WHICH RESORT area is right for you?

Fuerteventura is 100km long x 31km at its widest point and within this area there are 4 popular resort areas - Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma and Morro Jable (Jandia). There are smaller up and coming areas, but we will concentrate on the above.

All the resorts are very different, with each catering slightly differently to the needs of tourists. It is therefore important for you to decide which one will best suit you/your group's accommodation and activity needs.

Please see below for an overview of each resort which may help you decide which area to choose.

CORRALEJO

In the North of the island about 40km / 40min drive from the airport

Ideally placed for day trips to visit the neighbouring sister islands of LANZAROTE at just 7km away, and ISLA DE LOBOS at just 2km away. Both can easily be reached by any of the daily ferries and various excursions/trips available.

POPULARITY: Corralejo is the MOST POPULAR of all the resorts. It has a cosmopolitan feel and is popular with all nationalities, and all age groups. Town beaches are safe, and great for kids. The sand dunes of Parque Natural just 5 mins away together with the long sandy beaches on the other side of the road make this and ideal spot for surfing/kitesurfing, fishing and other water sports. ACCOMMODATION: Excellent choice of different styles & prices of accommodation to suit all budgets

ACTIVITIES: Excellent choice of different sports and leisure activities for all the family. Home to Baku Family Park which also has the islands' only WATER PARK. Lots of different excursions/trips on both land and sea available.

SHOPPING: Excellent choice of International and smaller specialist local shops. Corralejo Supermarket Guide

FOOD AND DRINK: Excellent choice of International restaurants and bars. Good fish restaurants around the harbour area. Most restaurants open until 0:00 but some serving food until 02:00

NIGHTLIFE: Many Bars/Restaurants with a variety of entertainment available, from Karaoke & Quizzes to Rock Bands & Dance Shows. Centro Comercial Atlantico at the bottom of the main street is the best centre for late night discos etc

Lanzarote Isla de Lobos

CALETA DE FUSTE - (aka El Castillo/Costa Caleta)

Half way down & to the east of Fuerteventura and 7km / 10min drive from the airport

POPULARITY: Popular with families. It is a purpose-built, man-made resort with imported sand making the horse-shoe beach area which is safe for family bathing. Popular with all nationalities, but has quite a "British" feel to it.

ACCOMMODATION: Good choice of different styles & prices of accommodation to suit all budgets

ACTIVITIES: Fair choice of different sports and leisure activities for all the family Caleta beach, Fuerteventura

SHOPPING: Excellent choice of International and smaller specialist local shops. Home to the Atlantico shopping centre

FOOD AND DRINK: Good choice of International restaurants and bars. Most open until 0:00

NIGHTLIFE: Good choice of Bars/Restaurants with a variety of entertainment, including Karaoke & Quizzes and live music.
