LANZAROTE ISLAND ATTRACTIONS
LANZAROTE is the most easterly and fourth largest of the Canary Islands. Its strange volcanic contours provided the backdrop to the film "Planet of the Apes" and "100 Million Years BC" . It has the longest volcanic tunnel in the world and several white and black sand beaches.
More commercialised than Fuerteventura. Local authority regulations do not permit billboard advertising or high rise buildings, therefore maintaining Lanzarote as a wonder of black volcanic stone and white painted houses. Visit Timanfaya Nacional Parque to view a landscape untouched for hundreds of years and marvel at the geothermic fires still alive deep within the depths.
Surfing and windsurfing is available to the east of the island near sleepy fishing villages where locally caught fish can be enjoyed in the local bars.
